Just a concept, will most likely be scrapped.

What is a Rampant? It's the name given to "primitive" vampiric wolves in my story. My crazy.. twisted.. demented story lol.

Rampants are not exactly primitive, their minds are just clouded which makes them become savage.
Ok, so here's my hell of a long crap explanation:

Wolves are not like people. They do not think like people or they understand things very differently than humans. When a human supposedly turns into a vampire, they still understand what is going on and realize what they've become. The still have memories and whatnot, they just don't have a soul.

Well, for wolves, they don't perceive things the same way. They wake up from the 'dead' and suddenly have this strong craving for blood. Unsure of what happened they wander around searching for what they crave. If there's no guidance then their minds will be further clouded and it'll eventually become impossible for them to understand things again. They become savages, everything is based off instinct- but worse. They have no memories, no soul, no emotions- they're like a hollow shell that just want food. Constantly hungry, they go off and eat whatever they can find. They'll even attack each other, or other wolves OR even other vampiric wolves that are superior in knowledge.

The Rampants aren't exactly 'evil'. They're just unknowing and lost. They don't know why they live or how to respect a dominant male or anything. They're just there to satisfy their cravings. That's all they know.

---

How did Rampants came to be?
The forest where the story takes place, there's only one vampiric wolf pack. It's the main antagonist's pack. He has a name but I'm debating wether to continue using it or find another name, but yeah.. his name is Demos. Demos is the 'first' wolf that was turned into a vampire. He and the human to change him shared knowledge, he understand how the human brain functions and is by far the smartest wolf in the forest, possibly everywhere. With his knowledge he can create a pack and guide them, share some of his vast knowledge and show them how to do things and what's 'right' and what's 'wrong'.

The vampiric wolves guided by the knowledgeable Demos understand what they've become and follow under the commands of him. Their minds aren't clouded because they received guidance, so now they look at Demos as a dominant male. Though some may get out of hand, their cravings for blood might be overwhelming, Demos teaches them how to control it. When to feed, when not to and how to expand their pack. Vampiric wolves are stronger, faster and smarter (only if they receive the right knowledge and guidance) than the average wolf.

So, why is there only ONE vampiric wolf pack?
Other vampiric wolves have tried to start their know pack, splitting off from Demos's pack, figuring they know ENOUGH knowledge to lead a pack of their own.
So when they attempt to turn their victims into vampires, their victims wake up confused and scared. Pupils begin to dilate and all they want is blood. The 'leader', so inexperienced and not enough knowledge as Demos, doesn't know how to calm the newly made vampire down and show them the ways of walking the night. These amateur leaders don't have a deep enough understanding of what they are. They are vampire wolves, they can't be under the sun, decapitation kills them and they want blood. That's how they think, that's the knowledge Demos shares with them. But without his leadership and ability to control, these wolves would be just as lost Rampants- they'd probably still have a clear mind but they wouldn't make it far, they wouldn't prosper- they'd always starve.

Being unable to lead his own pack, the amateur leader returns to Demos's pack, glad to have his guidance back... but the wolves he transformed still remain with their clouded thoughts, only getting more unclear. Soon all their memories and thoughts will disappear, there'll be no knowledge, just PURE instinct. Then they run around, killing things brutally just to satisfy their hunger. They become savages. They become Rampants.

A man once said "I think, therefore I am." One day, while at a party, he was offered a glass of juice, and said "I think not," and he promptly vanished in a puff of logic. ~ My dad :D

“What would you have me do? Watch her die? I can help her live, even if it’s without me.” He leaned forward. “Elizabeth,” he sighed heavily. “It’s going to be alright. I love you, got that? I love you more than anything. Don’t forget that.”
